Do you have or want an About.me site? Do you want to point your POP domain to it?
Follow these easy steps and we can have you setup in no time! Please be aware that in order to use a custom domain name with About.me, you are required to upgrade to their paid Premium plan which currently costs $48/yr. If you're not sure, you can check if you're already upgraded from this page.
Some popular reasons for upgrading your about.me account include:
- Support for using a custom domain name with your page, referred to as "Domain Mapping".
- Removal of the about.me navigation bar at the top of the page as well as their logo and branding, making your site truly personal.
- Ability to track your page performance by adding a Google Analytics tag.
- Priority support if you're having any troubles.
Steps to point your domain name at your About.me siteFirst, login to your POP account and click on the Domain Settings button for the Domain Name service for the domain name you want to point to POP. You can check which domain you're actively managing by looking at the domain listed dropdown in your top navigation bar.
You'll be taken to the Simple DNS page. While on the Simple DNS page, scroll down until you see the section for third party services. In that list you'll find About.me. The button to the right of the service should be showing "Offline." Hover over the "Online" button and click. You'll be prompted to confirm that you want to turn the About.me service on. Select "Okay".
Excellent. That's all you had to do within POP! We've automatically configured your DNS records to point your domain at your About.me site.
Assuming you've already upgraded to the Premium plan as mentioned at the top of this post, follow these instructions to link your About.me site to your POP domain from within your About.me account.
First, log in to your About.me account and click on 'Account Settings' in the upper right which looks like a gear icon with your name. You'll then need to publish your site to your domain name by entering your domain in the custom domain(s) field and clicking "Apply" and submitting the form. If you're having trouble finding this input, you can always contact About.me support.
Congrats! You've just finished pointing your domain to your About.me site.
